Bolt up

As my luck would have it, my transmisson I ordered is no longer made. (TCI-from Jegs) Does anyone know what heavy duty transmisson will bolt back to my 4.6 and transfer case with out any mods? I have the 4R70W. And need a god transmisson to handle my 10" lift and my 38" tires? Thanks!

I think you need to stick with the 4R70W. The 4R100 will not bolt up to a 4.6L engine, as far as I know. I suppose it's possible, but the 4R100 is not an option with the 4.6L engine.

You can either buy a performance transmission or have your current transmission rebuilt with heavey-duty parts.

Check:
LENTECH

LENTECH is the only 4R70W manufacturer that I've never heard a complaint about.

Actually the 4R100 WILL bolt up. The modular engines, 4.5L, 5.4L and 6.8L all have the same bolt pattern.

It is true that the 4R100 was never used with the 4.6L. The part that won't work is the electronics. If you do use a 4R100 you need to come up with a computer to shift it. Ford never made one that will operate a 4R100 and a 4.6L.

You could get in touch with Art Carr. They make very strong transmissions and are very reasonably priced. If you tell them what you plan to do with the tranny, they will custom build it just the way you need it.

Art Carr Performance Transmissions

I almost ordered one but due to time ended up having my 4R70W rebuilt.
