Refilling Torque Converter

Question Refilling Torque Converter

I am going to drain the tranny fluid to switch to synthetic and wondered if someone could tell me if refilling the tranny and torque converter is as simple as pouring the fluid down the dipstick tube? Its the torque converter I'm concerned with. Hopefully I can find the drain plug on it.

There is a drain plug. You are right to use it, just don't overtorque. As for refilling, pour 6 to 8 quarts into the trans dipstick tube and start her up. Let it idle and top it off. Depeding on the trans and how much fliud you get out, it should take around 14 quarts, give or take.

I had to put the rear-end up on jack stands! after about 8qts. of oil I ran it in drive for about a minute to let the converter pump it self up with tranny fluid. I had to do this about four or five times.

Thank you for the quick replies. That will make it a lot easier. I just have to decide on which synthetic I will use.
