Question Problem in rear end

I have had a problem with my truck now for over a year with very little help fom the dealer. When my truck comes to a stop the back end rises slightly the drops down (reminds me a 78 ford I had with U-Joint problems) in addition it also seems to slip a bit when taking off. I have had it looked at twice and they cannot seem to locate the problem but suggest it may be the shackles. One thing I discovered recently is if you shift to neutral before stopping it stops normally. When I say normally it just stops, doesnt have the slippage. This problem is very hard to explain and I would welcome any suggestions to resolve this very fast as my Warranty runs out in 2k miles & I have a sinking feeling the dealer will magically find the real problem after that time at my expense.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have noticed this situation. I have noticed that it only occurs once or twice in the morning, but I can't be sure if it's not because I have noticed it and changed my braking action, only to do it again the next morning.

Hi! I also have the banging problem in the rear end. The ford service shop foreman said that it is a problem with all ford trucks, ford knows about it, they don't know how to fix it and I should learn to live with it. I love the truck and would rather not!!!. Please, any help will be appreciated.

You may want to check the transmission mount (where trans. bolts to frame crossmember), or check tightness of u-bolts that go around axle housing (4-bolts, on top of diff. housing on each side). U-bolts may be loose.

LUBE THE SLIP YOKE on the rear driveshaft. THIS WILL cure the "slip on start" and probably the bump you feel on decel.

NOMOAPR4ME WAS RIGHT! They told me ford issued a tech sheet on this problem and in the 25mile drive home it drove like it did new. It was so strange to expect that thump at each stop and it did not happen. I have no idea why greasing the yoke fixes the problem but at least for now it has. I now love my truck again!!!!!!!!!
