Post flushing

Just bought a `99 F150 4x4 ext offroad 33,000 came off a lease from auction. Dealer can`t tell me if tranny has been flushed so I told him that I would like them to do so. he said he would ask manger. Am I out of line to expect them to do this and is there a sure way to tell if it has been changed by the color of fluid. I wish I knew if first owner took care of it already. And do lease vehicles get called in for maintenance to ensure a well maintained truck at end of lease?

You are not out of line -- in fact, you're acting very prudently.

Question for consideration:

Would you rather have...

a) The dealer do it begrudgingly by a mechanic who'd rather be doing something else, or...

b) Your local trusted-mechanic do it since he wants your continued business

You're obviously going to "pay" for it one way or another.
