Sure JMC. I want to hook up a remote-starter and need a neutral signal. Otherwise a manual transmission remote-starter requires an "arm procedure for dummies" which requires you to set the parking brake, leave it in neutral with the engine running, arm the system, leave the car, shut the door, and then turn off the engine with the alarm remote!

(I can just picture the room when the engineers and lawyers sat down and came up with that one )

That's cool. There is actually no switch. You would have to fabricate one.
One way, would be to install sensors in the rubber service bore plugs on the shift control housing.

Interesting idea Jean Marc. I do not know much about the workings of the shifter. Do the shift rails move front-and-back with the shift forks when the gears are changed? If so I could probably figure out which combination of positions is neutral. However it would probably require three 3-position switches.......

Scott,

The Shift Control Housing has 3 rubber plugs at the end of it that you remove in order to remove the shift rails. The rails move forward and backwards according to what position the shift lever is in. I will leave figuring out where the rail is in respect to the Neutral position up to you.
