Racing or High Performance Transmission Fluid

Anyone using a racing fluid to enhance transmissions performance? How good is it? Comments on performance? Any specific brand? Where did you get it? Cost?

I have the E4OD.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I've used Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. It's about $5 a quart.

Whatever you decide to use make sure it says MERCON (not MERCONV) on the bottle. That's the fluid specification that the E4OD needs to live.

Does it improves friction or the firmness when shifting? I've heard Mobil products are great. What advantages can we get by using this specific one?

Thank you for the reply.

Fresh Mobil 1 ATF will make the shifts as firm as they were when the truck was new. It won't make it firmer.

The advantage of synthetic is that it will stay like new longer than conventional fluid, plus it will make the transmission run cooler, and it lubricates better.

Did you flush out your entire transmission when you changed to Mobil 1 or can it be mixed with the regular ATF?

Mobil 1 can be mixed with any other MERCON fluid.

I prefer to change all the fluid at once, either by dumping the pan and draining the converter, or by removing a cooler line and pumping it out as I refill through the dipstick tube.
