At how many rpm's do you switch gears?
I have a 5spd V6 truck and almost always shift @ 2000 rpm. When I need to get going, I'll pick it up to 2500 and rarely might go up to 3000 rpm.
I'd like to know @ how many rpm's you make your shifts, thanks. ------------------ 2000 F150 V6 4.2L 5spd >SuperChip EGJ3 >MagnaFlow Exhaust >KenWood 600W Powering StealthBox with 2 10" Punch on Stock CD Stereo >CB/PA System >PIAA HID Headlights and FogLights >Bug Deflector >Clear Coroners >Window Vents and Tint > Nothing but Texaco PremiumGasoline-CleanSystem3 |
Most shifts for me fall between 2500 and 3000 rpm. Sometimes I'll go beyond but only when exceeding the speed limit https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif. I'd say that your shifting habits are quite conservitive.

I'm usually not in a really big hurry to get anywhere, and I like good fuel economy so I shift around 1900 when empty or 2200-2300 with a bed full of stuff or towing a boat trailer. My truck isn't even broken in yet and after only 500 miles i've had 15.3 and 16.1 mpg on the first two tanks. Half and half city/highway. Truck is only rated at 14/18. So I'm fairly happy right now.
