Towing with man tranny
I would like to know if there is a heavy duty cluth I can get for my 4.2l with manual trans the tow capacity sure goes down from the auto.

I have a 1998 f-150 4.2L 5 speed MTL and tow a 3500 dry weight travel trailer. My experiences with it I believe the clutch is plenty strong enough for towing more than what the book said. However the problem comes in when towing up grade the power just wasn't their I had to keep going into much lower gears and high rpm to keep moving. So what I have done is swap out those wimpy 3.08 gears in the rear end to 4.10 noticed a lot more power to the wheels now.

You may need to check the part numbers, but it is very possible you can find a HI-PO part. I can verify availability for the 4.6L. ------------------ '98 4.6 5-sp F-150 We've come for your Tundra.
