Cool Ford bought it back

I am no longer the proud owner of a 01 SCREW. After numerous problems such as loss of power in the summer, ( and yes the june 02 Tsb did not work) high idle with the power loss and going thru trannys, Ford has stepped up and bought it back. I have got to admit, Ford has taken care of me and I will purchase another Ford, although this time it will be a F250 with the new diesel and trans. The 4r70w is a real piece of crap if you have to tow anything over 3,000 pounds. From what I can tell, it seems to be the 2000 thru 2002 models having all the trans problems. If only you could get a 4r100 in the F150, I would buy another screw. Oh well, life goes on.

I haul 1400 lbs. of equipment around town all day / every day and with 30K miles - no problems yet. I do think I'm going to put a cooler on the transmission though.

i dont know i have a 4.2 and every time i put a trailor on it after awhile when i come to a stop it will start to shke. but if you look at the tack it staysnideled at 600. and when you give it gas it does nothing it just wont move. its even done this to me and my wife just driving around town. and its mostly on hot days. ive had it in to fords twice and they told me theres nothing wrong with it. the only thing ive done to the motor is the filter mod. but i have lightning wheels on it and i had the gears changed to 4.10's. im changing the filter and fluid tomorrow. hopfully that helps.

Hi tERRY W 123

Did you have to fight Ford about the problems with your truck or did Ford just admitted and baught back? I have a Superscrew and it has been a terrible new truck ownership experience for me. My truck looses a lot a power when hot out and on traffic, it does not take off from a stop faster then a 4 cylinder escort and it has the 5.4L, ( I say that because I drive escorts as loaners every time my truck is being repaired) it also idles high 900 to 1100 RPM's and is also seatting at the service department for another rebuilt transmission. It had tranny clunk, vibrations that could not be found, it wonders too much on road since new, bad window gaskets, bad pinion seals, bad paint areas, etc. etc. it has been in the service department for nearly two months. I agree, the 4R70W is not what I would call a tough transmission. I'm very dessapointed with this truck.

My truck (02 F150) is in the shop as I write this. I requested it be swapped out for a new truck due an intermittent tranny shifting problem. I just got a call from Ford service, and wouldn't you know it...the damed truck wouldn't act up when the service manager and ford regional service manager took it for a test drive. I told them to keep it for the rest of the week, drive it around until they experience the probem again....So now I wait-
Mother f'er! now I'm getting pissed! only 2,500 miles on the piece of crap!
