Question 5spd Question

I had noticed a few months back that after I push down on the clutch pedal that when I lift or let the pedal come back after shifting that when I fully release it is seems to kind of stick that last 1/2" to 1" of travel and then kind of pop back into place. I don't know if that is the best description. I have approx. 24,000 miles on the truck and it didn't do that in the begining so I don't think it is normal. I am wondering if maybe the slave cyclinder (I believe that is what brings the clutch pedal back, I may be wrong) is going bad?

The other thing I have noticed in the past few weeks is when I go to use the brakes it feels like it kind of (thuds) slight pop to it when you apply it, not the brakes themselfs they work great, but the brake pedal itself. I have looked underneath and don't see anything that may be loose. Maybe someone has had this or the clutch problem I am talking about and can give me some advice. I am thinking about taking it into the dealer but would like to know before hand so I have some information in case of the "we can't seem to duplicate the problem" answer.

Thanks for any assistance or information you can give me.

I think even on a hydro-clutch assembly like ours, a spring returns the clutch pedal. I believe the slave cylinder is actually connected in almost one piece to the throw-out bearing, and thus is essentially up towards the front of the tranny. The only thing I can think of that would give you any funny sensation when braking is maybe a warped rotor....

Or maybe you've got a small rice-burner caught in the brake assembly....

I had the same problem, sometimes the clutch would spring all the way back up and other times it would still have a 1 or so of play at the top. Took it to the dealer and they ordered me a new clutch master cylinder, They said it was a recall but I never received a notice. I only have 9000 miles on my truck, 01 XLT Sport 4.6 4x4 5spd, works fine now.

Thanks for you feedback...

Thanks, yes that is basically what mine does. Sometimes that last 1" or so it just kind of snaps back you can feel it in your foot, or kind of like a thud. At first I just thought it was me. So looks like I have to take this damn truck back into the dealer once again. God I love this truck but its starting to be a pain in the butt. About 2 months ago it had to have the drivers side head replaced because of a leaky head gasket and this is the 4.2, not the 4.6 and 5.4 which are known for that problem.

Thank God I bought the extended warranty 7yrs, 75,000 miles
