How much $ do you think

Hi Guys,

based on the Bullet-Proof Transmission Plan that AjRagno suggested, I'm upgrading my transmission, all at once. Since I don't feel like doing it myself what do you guys think is fair for the service department? Here is what will be done:

1. Transmission Service & Filter Replacement (1 hr.)
2. Sonnax valves (3) installed
3. Transgo Shift kit, Level 1 installed
4. Stock Transmission Cooler replaced by aftermarket.
5. Drain plug kit installed.

What do you guys think is fair for a dealer to charge for this. My guy works at the local Chevy place and their rates are $64/hr.

The only complicated mod/install you have here is the TransGo and Sonnax valves. The rest, I think would be fun for you to do yourself. I would encourage you to take on as much as possible yourself so that you understand more about your truck and know that it was done right.

As for labor: I spoke with a transmission shop a while back and they said it would be 2 hours labor for the TransGo. Sonnax valves should easily fit into that. Considering the fluid is out and the filter as well, they should really only charge you for a new filter and fluid. Don't count on that though.

An hour for the cooler perhaps???

The drain plug takes about 5 minutes but who knows what they'll charge you.

3-4 hours labor is what I'm thinking.

Does the Transgo come with complete instructions? How about the sonnax valves? I've got a buddy (pretty knowledgeable) who volunteered to help but would just be afraid that we're getting into more than we bargained for. What do you think? I've even got a lift available to me if I need one. Just Skeered..

Talking

"ONE MILLION DOLLARS"

I have no idea what a sonnax valve is......My kit was easy to install....I also installed a B&M drain pug kit(easy also)......cooler doesn't seem too difficult either

Heck, try it yourself if you have a place and feel confident, I had a blast installing my B&M kit, I likes the 2nd gear scratches too

Good Luck
