I'm pretty sure the F150 has a different rear end depending on whether you got the 4.6L vs 5.4L engine.. This is one way I can quickly tell if someone has the 5.4L vs 4.6, the pumpkin is larger on the 5.4L's..

I'd be careful how much torque you put on the rear end you have.

What kind of motor do you have that's producing 600 hp and torque? Outside of being a nascar race engine, i haven't seen many smallblocks making that kind of HP/TQ. If it's a big block, are you sure it will fit in a F150?

Will the rear end hold up? Depends on how you actually use it, but i highly doubt it will last longterm. It's not designed for the hp/tq numbers your suggesting.

Since you got such a great deal on the motor, you should have enough money to put a ford 9" built rearend in. Many street rods use them due to their toughness.

Best of luck. Keep the dream alive.

Cool

HI!... Since you are using a truck that origanally came with a 4.6, you have the 8.8 rearend. It will NOT handle that much H.P/TORQUE. All 5.4 equipped F-15's come with the STERLING 9.75 rearend. This is the same rearend used in the LIGHTNING. It will handle that much H.P/TORQUE. There are LIGHTNING guys running 11's and high 10's with this rearend STOCK and hav'nt been having problems YET. The 9.75 is a very strong rearend when equipped with a posi. As for a small block making that kind of power? That's easy. I have a 351-w that's making 713H.P (FLYWHEEL) N/A!
