I was told by a mechanic at a Ford dealership that they aren't able to reprogram a speedometer on a 97 F-150. Is this true or how can I get it done? If true, is there another way to correct it? gears?

On the 1997 all you have to do is change the gear. go to http://www.finer.com/Internet/pages/speedo.htm and you can find what gear you need. It is located on the drivers side of the transmission.
