06 F150 4.6 transmission won't shift into 3rd gear
Hi,
I have a 06 F150 4.6 with 315,000 miles, it shifts into second just fine, but then the engine just revs. It was a free truck from one of my dads friends, engine runs great. I hooked up a scanner and got the codes: P0705, and P0743. They come up fro the Torque converter clutch solenoid, and transmission range sensor. I will go check the latter out tomorrow and try to realign and clean it. It also has a od light blinking, and trans fault on the dash. There is a check engine light but motor is fine. It was a fleet vehicle for the entire time it was used, and all highway miles. I heard that it could be an internal issue(more likely), or a sensor, or solenoid, or something. I am considering a junkyard trans, and I would hate to throw it away since it would be a good plow truck, and everything else on it seems good. Thanks, Leo |
Direct clutch or intermediate shaft failure. Rebuild time.

Is it possible to do it yourself? I have the time to do. I will drop the transmission and see if I can see anything abnormal. I really have no idea what to look for but I bet I can fix it.
