Transmission fluid for 2010 stx

I’ve always had Chevy trucks. Clueless with ford. I just got a 2010 STX 4x4 4.6l. I noticed when checking fluid while hot and running, the level is in between the two dots. I’ve read there is stuff out there that can ruin your tranny. What should I use? It also has 97k. Any other preventative maintenance I should take maybe?

Instead of adding fluid, with those miles, I would take it in for a transmission flush. I would get the cooling system flushed as well.

In between the 2 dots is the correct indication. Nothing needs to be added. The correct spec fluid is Mercon LV.

Typically the transmission doesn't use oil... or consume it, or eat it... whatever you want to call it.

If you are losing oil, it's because of a leak.

Other than that, it sounds like you have no issues if the level is between those two dots.
