Accumulator Sleeves on 4R70W

I am looking at replacing the accumulator piston and springs for 1-2 on my 2000 F 150 transmission. It shifts hard from 1 to 2, then slips a little going into 3rd. Should I replace the sleeves also? Do I need a special tool to install the sleeve?

nothing special required. while you are there you should probably remove the spring for the 2-3 accumulator. definately improves the shift....firm but not HARSH. Bad idea to do this for the 1-2 shift as that will be a VERY HARSH shift...
