10 speed slow shifting from 3rd

I bought a brand new ‘18 f150 with 3 miles on it. It has the 3.5 eb, 3.55 axle, 6 1/2’ bed, 4x4, supercrew. I am around 5,500 miles right now. Over the past couple weeks I have noticed a “slow shift” when going to from 3rd to 4th, and 3rd to 5th. It almost seems as if it is deciding which gear to shift into since it sometimes skips gears depending on driving conditions. This happens in all drive modes, both cold and warm temperatures and cold and warm trans temps. I am waiting for my appt at the local dealer on 2-5-19 (the soonest spot available for the first service, and transmission check). Is anyone else having these issues shifting out of 3rd to a higher gear?

It's likely a software update.

These transmissions also learn your driving habits.

Maybe try disconnecting the battery cable, wait about 45 minutes, then plug it back in. This will reset the computer.

Then drive it normally. See what it does.

that’s is what I am hoping for. It doesn’t Cel like it’s sllipping or reving, just confused on when to shift and what gear to shift into. Does unplugging the battery long enough, reset the TCM? Or does the dealer have to flash it?

The TCM/ECU software can be flashed by the dealer. It's actually quite common.

But in the mean time, something you can easily try at home is to unhook the battery and try driving it. See if it makes any difference.

If it doesn't, mention this when you bring it into the dealer. This way it adds to the process of troubleshooting.

Sometimes a simple reboot fixes everything.

Update

after unplugging the battery for an hour, I still had the same issues. I took the truck to the dealer for routine maintenance, and also scheduled it into their transmission department. it took them a week, but all they did was reset the shift points and so far it has been driving fine. Only about 30 miles so far, so time will tell.

I think the torque convertor locks up in 3rd gear, which would make it feel like a longer delay in 3rd, and have a "flat spot" in the acceleration
