Which rear end gearing to go?

Hey guys...

I have a 2004 F150 SCAB XL with a little over 100k miles on her. I have a level kit with 17's and 32's on her as well. I need a little more pickup so I wanted to change out my stock rear gearing to something bigger. I don't know what gearing is in her now, but I was thinking higher gearing..any suggestions? Also mine is a 2wd and not 4wd.

Thanks

You need to determine what gears you currently have. Get the axle code off the tag on the drivers door.

A programmer and custom tunes would be cheaper. You are going to need one anyway to correct your speedometer/odometer so get that first.

Yeah I was looking into getting a SCT tuner for my truck, I currently have a 4.6L XL 2wd.

If you get a SCT, get it from one of the good mail order tuning shops with custom tunes.

Regardless of what rear you have now, if you are going to regear, go at least 2 steps up - if you have 3.55's get at least 4.10's, if you have 3.73's get at least 4.30's.
