Ok, so i've been battling this issue for awhile now and dont understand whats up. I put the 4r70w trans out of an 04 Crown Vic into my 02 2wd 4.6L F150. Everything I have read tells me they should be the same. All plugs are the same.When i plug in the speed sensor, the truck thinks its going 100mph when its really going 20. I swapped the sensors out, no change. Now, the speed sensor itself (i have the harness out of the crown vic too) has the same blue/yellow wire in the same place as the vic, but the other is brown/yellow on the truck and grey/red on the vic. i was told to flip-flop them and there was no change once again. Im at a loss and figured id see if you guys could help me before i get another trans or sell the truck. thanks in advance!

 

The output shaft ring gear is different. 2004 and newer has 24 slots. 2003 and older has 6 holes.

Supposedly, this can be corrected with a custom tune. Refer to the following post (#4 in thread):

You have the opposite issue.

 

Well, looks like im gonna call SCT or Bama. Im shopping for programmers anyways so if it can fix the issue, then i benefit way more for the same amount of money as a good used trans. Not only that i can pay a little more and use the same tuner for the truck and my Mustang. So if they can, its a win for me. Thanks man!

Where did you get your 4r70 from? I'm having trouble locating anywhere in the area right now.
