truck problem

my overdrive keeps flashing and the fuse keeps blowing and once the fuse blows my rpms go up really high before it will even shift or when the fuse blows what causes that

It sounds like you might have a short.

Where could the short be at like where could i locate it at? Truck won't even start now and when I go to start it the mileage odomiter has just lines through it --- like that. What does that mean?

1. Please identify your truck by year, engine, and transmission.
2. Please identify which exact fuse blows. There is a fuse and relay chart in the owner's manual, if you don't have one, download one from:

3. Use an OBD2 scanner that can read Ford transmision codes to retrieve the transmission fault codes. The flashing overdrive light indicates a fault.

Either your computer or the cluster is not powering up properly, if at all, that's why the odometer is displaying all dashes.

Start by checking the PCM Power relay and the specific fuses that are needed to power the PCM and the cluster.

It's a 2001 Ford f150 5.4 motor and and it's fuse 23 that keeps blowing stick another one in it runs for a bit then does it again
