Trans issues

I have a 99 Ford F-150 4.2 extended cab, the forward gears in the trans went out, it would move but barely! I pulled pan it was filthy and had a lot debris, so I found a different trans from a 2000 Ford F-150 4.2. I replaced the trans and changed fluids and filter, the insides looked good, with very lil black dust. Put it all together, filled it up, let it warm up, absolutely nothing happens, doesn’t even feel like it’s getting power at all! Does anybody have any clue what could be causing this to happen?

Does it have enough fluid? If so, you'll need a pressure gauge with a 1/8" NPT thread. Thread it into the test port on the side of the trans. Start it up and see if there is pressure showing on the gauge. Record the pressure in P, R, D, 2, and 1.

If you drained the pan and the torque converter, it's going to take up to 14 quarts to refill it.
