Hard Shifting When Cold?
I've got a 2016 f150 5.0l with 67k miles now, mostly interstate/highway towing a small trailer and 4 wheeler. recently i've been experiencing hard 1st to 2nd shifts when the tranny is cold (20-30 degrees F outside temps). once warm its smooth as butter. It is winter where I live, so we'll see if warmer weather will eliminate the hard shifts when the trannys cold. I'm not overly worried about it, however, i'm looking for a piece of mind if anyone has had similar issues. I've changed the tranny fluid twice, once around 35k and again at 66k with OEM fluid. I just bought a tuner and custom tunes with the intentions of firming up my shifting...hoping it doesn't make anything worse.
Also I read about KAM resets helping the tranny relearn shifting patterns. I'm wondering if that would help. I think when i flash my truck with the new tunes it does it automatically? If not there is a setting to do it on the tuner.
Any words of wisdom? Thoughts? Nothing to worry about?
