If it's a 4R70W it should, but not if it's a E4OD/4R100.

Will a transmission from a 2006 f-150 5.4l 4x4 fit my 99 f-150 4.6 4x4

The sun gear failed in mine, it is supposed to be a common prob. Rest of the trans was mint but it still cost me a full rebuild, including a "new" torque converter that was not needed.
It does not lock up as smooth as the original unit.
For $1500, I should have explored a gently used unit?

Electronics are not compatible.

You MUST replace the torque converter when a transmission fails. If you don't it is very likely for bits from the failure to find their way out of the reused converter into the rebuilt trans. This will cause the trans to fail again.

Yup, Mark is right. Too many crevices for metal and dirt to hide. Might as well do it right the first time.

Same goes for manual transmissions -- if you are going to be replacing the friction material, you might as well go for either a new flywheel or get the old one turned. If you don't, you'll have issues later on down the line.

Ain't no fun doing the job twice.

I found that out the hard way!

Will transmissions from expedition or explorers work in my 99 f-150 4x4 with a 4.6l motor

Darrin Burch 01-10-2018 08:51 AM

No on the Explorers. Some of the Expeditions

glc 01-10-2018 10:43 AM

You need to find a 4R70W out of a 99-03 4x4 F150 or Expedition with a 4.6 or 5.4. Can we get any clearer than that?
