98’ F-150 tranny issues??
 

Have a 98’ F-150 with a little over 97k miles on it. Keep up with maintenance for the most part, but truck suddenly started ‘stuttering’ upon starting and then while driving (when moving from stopping at ted light to go) a few days ago. Yesterday it died....will reverse but remains in neutral position in drive mode? Revved it up and it just stands still. Check engine light never came on either. Let’s just say ‘my silver bullet’ is delivering blanks now😕. What could it be?

Will it go in manual 2nd?

Manual 2nd?? It’s an automatic transmision. It goes into other modes...drive, neutral....but nothing happens...even revving up
engine on D...it just sits there. In reverse it does go back...but that’s about it.

glc knows its an automatic.

You have the ability to manually shift into 2nd and 1st gear.

He's saying try selecting 2 instead of D and see if the truck moves forward.
