2007 4.2 XL Transmission Issues

Hi all,
Recently my transmission seems to not want to engage the clutch when I apply the brakes. It keeps getting worse and is a major safety issue. Im at a loss at what the cause could be, any ideas on what is failing/has failed? There are no codes, but the ABS light is always on, like it has been for the past 9 years

I don't understand what you are asking. Is this a manual or automatic?

You need to fix that ABS issue. The computer needs to be scanned for ABS codes.

Are you saying that the torque converter isn't unlocking?

Check for codes. You need a scanner that can read ABS and Ford transmission codes.

This one needs to go to a shop for diagnosis and repair.

I have a 2007 4.6L F150. I was backing down my driveway and reverse just quit on me with out any warnings at all. All the forward gears work fine. I'm fixing to go on and pull it out but everyone is asking for a lot to rebuild it and don't have that kinda of money. Is there any other ford products that has the same transmission I can get one out of. No one has that transmission at any of the junk yards around me.

You should be able to use any automatic out of an 05-08 F-150 with the same drive system (2wd or 4wd) and with a 4.6 or 5.4.
