2005 F-150 Lariat crewcab 4x4 with 5.4 motor and automatic transmission.

Just yesterday, pull in parking lot and park. Go in store come out and crank the truck go to put it in gear and center console shifter just free floats from park to 1st gear. Up to this point truck has been driving fine, if feels link a linkage came off?

Any help or ideas would be greatful..

 

I think your feel is close. Sounds like disconnected or broken lnkage.
