So we replaced the tranny in our truck 2005 f150 4x4 4.6L. Recently it started shifting weird. Now once the truck is warm it gets a trans fault warning and the O/d light blinks.and then it wont shift past second. When the truck is cold it works perfectly fine. Took it to shop and they said its a wiring issue. Checked all the sensors on the outside. They want 200$ just to look at it and then 100$ an hour is they dont find the problem in the first 2 hours... any ideas on what it could be?

 

Nope. Could be any of a couple of dozen things.

Someone who knows what they're doing is going to have to 1) see it and 2) diagnose it. Otherwise, you'd have to consult a crystal ball or an Ouija board.

 

The first thing that needs to be done is read out the transmission fault codes. You need a OBD2 scanner that can read Ford transmission codes.

 

That same thing happened to me today. 2005 F150 5.4 with a factory rebuild tranny installed 5 yrs ago. Did you find anything out? I have a edge tuner (set to stock) and it didn't show any codes.

 

I don't know if the Edge can read tranny codes.
