So I've been looking through all the different threads available and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I have 2 trucks, 1998 f150 2wd with a good 4.6 and then i have 2000 f150 4x4 with no motor but a good transmission. I will be swapping my cab, computer & motor onto the 4x4 frame, my question is will the wiring harness for the 4x4 transmission hook into my computer on the 2wd? Do NOT tell me to just buy another truck, I don't have 4k laying around otherwise i would. I have all the tools and knowledge for everything else with the help of my ASE certified grandfather & uncle. We would just like to know what to expect before just tearing into the project.

 

There is no difference between a 2wd and 4wd computer. There may be a difference in wiring between a 1998 and a 2000, I don't know the F-150 well enough to answer that.

 

I am not aware of any electrical connection differences between the 2 model years. The transmission sub harness should be able to be swapped from one truck the next. the only difference between the 2wd and 4wd harness is how the mechanical speedo will hook up and electrical connectors IF it has electronic 4wd shift
