I have a 02 f150 5.4 xlt and a 06 f150 5.4 xlt. The 02 has dead trans and the 06 crank locked up. Im putting the 06 4r75e in place of the 02 4r70w. What all do i need to do to make it work?

 

The problem you are going to have is that the output shaft sensor count is different between the transmissions. There is no way to fix this short of swapping the output shaft ring gear or reprogramming the vehicle computer.

Swapping the ring gear requires total tear down of the transmission as it's the last thing all the way back in the case.

Definatly dont want to tear down to swap ring gear. As far as programing is that something i can do myself with a SCT or Diablo tuner or somethimg like that? Or will i have to take it somewhere to have it programed?

 

You would have to get a tune written for the device.
