02 4R70W Question

On a nice drive home from work last week I suddenly lost OD. I stopped checked the underside....yup no leaks. Started the truck pulled out, no problem till the shift to 2nd. Tach goes way up....Ah nice no 2nd gear. Nurse the truck the last 4 miles in 1st only to find no reverse either. Code reader shows no codes at all. I quickly come to the conclusion that a new rebuilt trans is in order. Sadly the truck only has 115K on it.

I'm looking for any suggestions on good re-manufactured, rebuilt transmission. I have a shop that will install my purchase for @$700.00. I've heard good things about Monster Transmission but have no personal experience.

Thanks!!

I would recommend contacting Darrin Burch, who has a presence on this forum.

Why not let the shop buy the transmission. If it doesn't work properly you could be stuck between the shop saying it's the transmission's fault and the trans provider saying it's the fault of the shop.

And, if the transmission doesn't work right and has to be removed and sent back, YOU will have to pay for the extra labor. If the shop buys it, you won't.

Thanks for the reply Darren. What suggestions do you have for me.

I have not done anything yet, I'm still looking at what options I have to get the trans fixed or replaced within my limited budget.

Give him a call, his number is on his website. We can't discuss business between members in the forum but you could send him a PM.

As mentioned those are good ways to contact me.

I'm pretty good at finding satisfying solutions for limited budgets.

Something failed and I didn't get a message. Did you call 317-514-0816?
