Stuck in gear still...

Hey everyone, I'm a new f150 owner and also new to the forum, under the most unfortunate of circumstances. I bought a 90' f150 lariat with the m5odr2 tranny. I bent a rod so I bought a used trans and swapped the top ends out thinking this would since the problem...it didn't.

Here's whats going on now. When I start the truck and let up off the clutch it stalls, which to me would suggest that the truck is stuck in gear. However, that baffles me because a) the top end of the trans had been swapped and b) with the truck turned off I can shift between the various gears.

So at present time my guesses are that somehow it's stuck in gear still our that my clutch is faulty and isn't engaging at all. I should also mention that i don't think my ebrake works so the fact that it's stuck in gear is the only thing keeping it from rolling down the driveway.

Suggestions? Anyone with experience with this?

If you changed out the shifter and it was in gear and not neutral, that could be the issue. If you can't find neutral with the stick then it is probably installed wrong. That would be my guess.

Or you don't have the shift forks lined up proper.

If the clutch didn't engage you would have no gears at all, and stalling wouldn't be an issue

That makes sense patman, I'm gonna pull that top end off again and see.If the forks are lined up, it's very possible I didn't install ít properly

Update: turns out it was an easy fix, forks weren't lined up properly upon install. Simple fix, dumb mistake.
