4r75e Replacement

My 2006 F150's transmission gave out on me. No warnings, no hard shifts or jarring, sticking. I was pulling out of the driveway, and the Trans Failure light came on. I thought, "well, better pull the codes" and started to drive it in to town, but it just lost all power after about 2 blocks. Put it into reverse, backed it all the way home, and as I pulled into the driveway reverse gave out. Again, no noises, no grinding etc.

I'm looking at just swapping out for a reman transmission, but I've run into a small snag:

My truck is a 4r75e trans. All the shops I've looked at online and called in town are talking about selling me a 4r75w. My understanding is that the 75w is missing a particular sensor hookup, and I am concerned that this is not an interchangeable transmission. Am I right? Can I swap a 75w in place of the 75e like everyone has been trying to sell me?

Thanks in advance.

Officially, there is NO 4R75W...Ford renamed the transmission 4R75E. ALL production 4R75 transmissions 2006 and newer and 4R75E

Thanks for the response. The local Ford Dealer claimed they're not the same, but all of the shops around here said otherwise, and all I could find were transmissions labeled as 4r75w.

I'll just assume they're all the same.

like I said, all the 4R75 transmissions produced 2006 and later are essentially the same internally, the only difference is going to be the shift arm for the vehicle application.

Yeah, I hear all the time about the 4R75W and that's why I listed it as an option. People keep hearing about it so, even though it's exactly the same, there it is.
