Overdrive lockout

It used to default to overdrive on, now it is off most of the time until I notice that the revs are too high, and push the button. Is there a simple way to wire it on all the time? Thanks.

gary1930,

There must be something wrong with the system. The normal operation is that the O/D is on when you turn the ignition on and you need to lock the O/D out,not on.

Could be as simple as moister in the switch itself causing it to stick. You really should look at this though. If there is an error in the electronics it could be damaging the transmission and I have not heard a single person praise the strength of the 4R70W transmission which is what you likely have.

This happend on a van I had. Took it to the dealer. He charged $75 for diagnosis. Nothing wrong with tranny. Short in the wiring harness in the steering column. They wanted $350 to fix it. I said no for that kind of money I can push the button.

You should have it checked just to be sure. That light is used as a trouble signal from the tranny though.
