No trans in any gear.

If this has been addressed already my apologies.

2003 F150 4x4 crew cab, automatic with overdrive. 55,000 miles!
This is my issue. Driving down the freeway I took an off ramp and a quiet clunk whirr, then no transmission in any gear, 2 wheel or 4 wheel low/high, and nothing in reverse. Speedometer reads like I am moving but I am not. Parking pawl makes noise trying to go into park. Towed home on a flat bed.

Days later it finally goes into gear but pulls hard against the brakes. Starts down the road and speedo is reading way high and tranny shifts fast through the gears. One block away I lose all gears again. No gears for two months of trying weekly and it finally goes into gear enough to get in into the garage with the speedo reading way high again.

Checked the connections at the MLPS and the transfer case shift motor and they appear good. Transfer case engages front driveshaft when shifted to 4x4. I am at a loss as to what is causing this. Anyone have a solution or know what’s wrong???

Both of those statements indicate that the problem is inside the transfer case.

Thanks, time to get dirty. I will post what I find.

heres what happened

Took the transfer case out and disassembled it. Found that the pump had failed causing the gear set to over heat and seize to the input shaft. The shift fork broke trying to move the gear and the rear drive ?drum? broke. When I disassembled the case the gear was no long seized but the signs were plain to see.
going to hit up ford for parts unless you guys know of a better way to go.

Junkyard transfer case?

Remans are about $800.
