transfer case swap non-TOD with TOD BW-4406
 

I have a '98 F250 light duty with BW-4406 transfer case, virtually the same truck as the '98 F150 and I'm looking to swap transfer cases. Not realizing there was a difference, I picked up a BW-4406 with Torque On Demand (TOD). It looks almost identical other than some extra electrical components.

Would it screw anything up to go ahead and put the TOD unit in my truck? I understand I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the AWD, but would I still have 2wd, 4hi and 4lo?

If this is a bad idea, would I be able to simply pull off the electronics from my original transfer case and put them on the new one?

I apologize if this has been answered before, I've searched and found several threads mentioning various swaps but nothing addressing this directly.
