What is the problem that makes you think it might be bad?

actually my son wants to change it........high revs to move but it will go. I thought I smoked the whole tranny trying to get out of a snow pile. Reverse works fine. Motor screaming pretty good going down the street.

Kinda sounds like the transmission might be slipping.

The torque converter doesn't know if the trans is in drive or reverse. It does exactly the same thing in either gear. If the converter is bad it will have the same problem in drive as it does in reverse.

The forward clutch was destroyed getting the truck out of the snow. The trans has to come out and be rebuilt or replaced. Just changing the torque converter won't make any difference at all.
