Need Some Help!

I got a 99 F150, 4.6, 4X4..Im Havin issues with loss of power an not shifting normally. I have a loss of power in first gear almost like its not getting fuel but fuel filter was recently changed also when its shifting from 2nd to 3rd it goes up to 4K before finally shifting an its a hard shift also smells like something is burning.. the engine light blinks when shifting 2nd into 3rd also then once its into 3rd it stops blinking an i cant hook up a diagnostics because my plug in doesnt work. So any ideas or suggestions would be helpful! Thank Ya'l

I believe lighter fuse also controls obdII plug , see if it's blown. You need the codes for some kind of starting point. Hopefully you aren't smelling burnt transmission fluid.

A flashing check engine light means the engine has a misfire. That's what needs to be fixed.

I replaced the fuse an Indeed was a cylinder #5 misfire, thats fixed now but is that also the burning smell? Should I also change the tranny fluid an filter because of the hard shifts?

Does the trans fluid smell burnt on the dipstick? If so, change it. If not, it doesn't hurt to change it.
