Rebuilt 4r70W installed for $950

I purchased a repainted Comcast supercab truck for $2250 this summer and it ran fine (18mpg), shifted fine, but had some oil drips that were getting worse- I got tired of the rear main and front seals losing oil and hated going to friends homes and pulling out the cardboard to slide under the truck. After much research and lots of $1800-$2200 repair prices on my transmission, I located a good shop in Leesburg, Florida. About 3 hours away from me- I drove up and dropped it off at 4:30pm (stayed overnight at a motel) and they did a swap the next morning. The rebuilt transmission and torque converter from an Orlando distributer was installed the next morning. I was on the road by 11AM, exactly as promised.
Costs- Transmission R&R- $950, replace rear main seal on 4.2L/ $50, install a transmission oil cooler- parts/labor, $150
They give a lifetime $250 replacement warranty on the transmission as long as you drop the pan and replace the filter every 12,000 miles.
How many miles on my truck?- 238,000.
The shop owner said he has seen this transmission go over 300,000 miles.
I am fixing it up my retirement truck a little bit each week-

Good deal on the tranny.

Too bad you never got to drive this thing when it was new. They are a great truck.

My last truck was a 2005 Dodge quadcab 1500 with auto/4.7L engine. I pulled a 25ft 5th wheel from Indiana to California 2x with it. It was just too big for this city (u-turns all the time here) and I traded it in 2 years ago. The high and wide profile of the Rams cost me a lot in mpg- never much better than 15.
I am very surprised how well this truck rides- I am certain it has the original shocks, which will be replaced soon. I had a 1993 F-150 4wd 15 years ago- 300-six and it was a 100,000+ mile truck. -I never spent much money on it in 3 years..
The transmission shop said that most of his business is GM transmissions- Fords? Not very much, he said.
