trans problem help

2008 f150 5.4 auto 4wd 94000 miles. So my transmission has been making a loud clunk sometimes if I'm driving take my foot off to coast and reapply the gas. Slams onto gear and makes a loud clunk noise. I went to tennesee on good Friday and in the hills is when I first noticed it doing it and its flat at home but it still has done it several times. I planned to call the dealer but haven't yet. Well tonight I was driving straight at about 60 mph and out of no where it sounded like a manual that you were grinding gears in. I imediatly stopped and got out to look for sticks etc, nothing to be seen. Drove the shoulder and the noise was gone so I continued to the in laws. About a mile later it did it again. I stopped and it went away again. By then I was to town and I limped it to where I was goin.
It was bad enough noise I called a tow truck. Its still under the 100k warranty so its goin to the dealer. Any thoughts? I'm not overly thrilled with the dealer but it sounded BAD!
Anybody got anything??

when I talked to them this morning they seemed to think it was 4wd related based on my description. They were going to look into both noises.

you would be correct. I'm pissed! 265 bucks for something I could've easily done myself. How the expended powertrain didn't cover that is beyond me. Oh well, I had an open house at my daughters school last night and its going to rain today so I needed it back. Now that I've read all about it, I feel like an idiot and won't let it stop me next time. Live and learn.

Out of state, out of luck, sounds like a perty good dealership to fix it quick, fix it right. There may have been serious damage. You did it right, getting attention quick by good people. Best of luck.
