2006 F-150 Transmission question

Hey yall, whats up. I have a 2006 Ford F-150 4X4 ext cab. I'm not sure about the transmission type.
I started to notice a slight stutter in the transmission when I am driving between 45 and 50, and 55 to 60. It stops stuttering after 60 MPH. It feels kinda like the convertor isnt catching or something. The RPM's never go up or down on the transmission when it does this. I usually let off the gas and it stops, then step on the gas again, not flooring it and keep on going. It doesn't do it all the time and it's slight.
I changed the transmission about 4 months ago making sure to use the right fluid and filter. The transmission wasn't doing this before I changed the fluid. Well thats what my wife says because she is the one driving it all the time. I drive my company truck to and from work.
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this problem or had the same problem with their transmission and if yall have any solutions to it.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Also, looking for any information on the towing capacity for the same truck described above. Ball park figure will be fine.

Thanks yall,
Jonathan
:beers:

Are you sure it's not a low grade misfire? Which engine do you have and how many miles are on it?

On the door jamb sticker, what's the AXLE code and what is the GVWR? Does it have a factory hitch?

The engine is a 5.4L V8 with 118500 miles on it. I know I have to replace the spark plugs. I have seen some you tube videos showing how to change the spark plugs on this particular engine. They have some weird type spark plugs that break off in the motor. Doesn't sound like much fun.

You are overdue for new spark plugs.

PLENTY of threads here in the V8 and 04-08 forums on changing them.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a #2 COP. I replaced all of the plugs while I was at it. Runs perfect now. It would be a good idea to read the codes as well...

06 Trannny Shutter

Mine is a 06 fx4, 5.4 engine, 130K miles. Feels like tranny shutters at low rpm in OD and will feel like the motor is cutting back sometimes. Runs fine going down the hwy. What was your problem? Anyone tell me where to start?

Jumped on the forum tonight as I'm having the same issue described by jacarmona91 and Ron 52. I also have a 2006 F150 4x4 Ext. Cab 5.4L V8. I rolled over 85K miles today and have noticed this shutter at low RPM in OD too for the last couple of months. It seems to have gotten a little worse lately. I only notice it though with low RPM in OD. At higher RPMs it doesn't happen.

I have not changed spark plugs yet, but I've assumed it was a transmission issue. Transmission fluid has never been changed yet either.

What's your suggestions?

At 85k it could probably use a set of plugs, and a transmission fluid exchange at that
mileage wouldn't hurt anything either. Cops can also cause low grade misfires that may not set a CEL.

texasmug 12-17-2011 09:36 AM

I've seen other threads that say it could be a COP too. I've got a Gryphon and do not have any codes. But you stated that a low grade misfire won't set off the CEL either. Is there any other way to confirm this could be what it is? Or more specificaly to determine which one it is?

And the COPs are Motorcraft DG511 that are about $41/each on RockAuto, correct?
