You mean you got your truck towed while the wheels where on the ground? If so and your engine was not running you more the likely smoked the tranny. Because the oil pump is turned by the crankshaft and not by the output shaft fluid was not moving in the trans while it was being towed.

it won't go in reverse after it warms up, it only has 1st and 2nd and it slips at 3 grand. yes i towed it with the wheels on the ground, in 2 wheel drive with the transmission in neutral. i figure if i blew a band then it wouldn't go in reverse period. but it will when i first start it up and yes the engine was off

You toasted it - you can't flat tow it without removing the driveshafts. I'm assuming you didn't read the owner's manual. The only exception is 2wd vehicles, they may be flat towed without removing the driveshaft for up to 50 miles and you cannot exceed 35 mph.

A lot of parts were probably toasted. When you tow it about half of the trans is rotating, but the pump is not. That means half of the trans is running, but no fluid is being pumped for lube. It needs to come out and be torn down to find out what happened.
