If it lasted me as long as it did with 450+rwhp all of it's life, then with proper maintenance on a mostly stock truck it should last for a long time.

The one I got built is overkill for 99% of the trucks on this forum... The "Klipsh" transmission would be suited for most members.

My `05 F150 FX4 5.4 3V is getting a new transmission installed by the dealer, where I recently purchased this truck in Nov.2010. My question is, when I do get this truck back, what signs should I be looking for? Which tranny is better and what is the difference between the 4r75e or the 4r75w ? They told me that they will replace it soup to nuts, I hope they do follow those words and don`t just replace some parts....
Thanks,
Hankster

We have 4r75E's in our trucks.
4r75w came in mustangs, crown vics, etc.
As long as the replace the right parts you have nothing to worry about.... 90% of the time just the clutches and steel bands get replaced. Everything get's cleaned up and put back together. Talking to BC Auto though there are some difference between valve bodies through the years with improvements, and some other misc items.

The W in the 4r70 means wide ratio.... I beleive the 1st and 2nd gear are different.

i just had my tranny rebuilt and they told me i have a 4r70w and i also have a 2005 f150 with a 5.4.... another tranny shop also told me there is 2 different trannys for the 2005 f150 depending on engine size.... a 4r70w and a 4r100.... is there any truth to this? also the website http://www.circledspecialties.com/ also lists only a 4r70w and 4r100 no 4r75 whatsoever... any help?
