Grrrrrr

Let's start off with I'm a dumbass.
When I replaced my clutch a couple months ago I completely forgot about changing those three rubber plugs or whatever they are on the top of the transmission and it definitely leaks now.
If I completely clean the outside of the tranny within a few weeks fluid will be covering it again and it drips off while parked and makes a mess to say the least.
So what is the best fix without dropping the tranny again..
Is there some way of maybe loading that area with caulking?
I hate myself for this one almost as much as when the hydraulic line blew out on me 2 weeks after replacing everything clutch related but that stupid line.

Did you get new plugs? Reach in with a rag and clean the bore with brake cleaner. Let it dry then silicone the clean plug into place. Ford eventually went to steel plugs.

I haven't yet, I'm not going to have time to work on it until christmas break.
I read on a website that if you pull up the carpet there are two pieces of the tranny tunnel that pull up.. Would my truck have this?
I'm going to be putting my new hurst shifter in as well so pulling the carpet back won't be too much work since the shifter will already be out.
Also what should I get for replacement plugs?

The plugs can be found at the dealer or a good tranny shop should carry them.
I cannot comment about the floor of your truck as I simply do not know.

That place seems to have good advice on it and I think I would rather mess with the carpeting as compared to dropping the transmission again, by myself without a proper jack.
Thanks for the help JMC you seem to be the king of the mazda crap tranny.

He oughta be - he's been through about 5 of them now. It's a good tranny when used behind what it was designed for - and a blown 5.4 ain't what it was made for.

Amen.
I don't mind the transmission really, 245,000 miles and counting on the original. I really wish I would changed those stupid plugs while it was on the floor though.
