transmission??

Hey I have a 2006 fx4 f150. My truck feels like it has an extra gear almost. upshifts fairly hard into 3rd then hits around 2000-2100 rpm and drops down to around 1700 rpms (then continues up and shifts). Does this consistantly and its quite the shudder when it does this. Is this the transmission doing this or is it a misfire?? im not overly mechanically inclined and need some direction. I dont think its slipping (generally rpms would go up if it were, am i right??) Sorry if this is dumb but its scaring me. The truck only has 70 000 kms on it! Any help or similar stories are greatly appreciated! Thanks

Have you ever had the tranny fluid flushed? What feels like an extra shift is the torque converter locking up.

No, it would not, but changing the trans fluid may fix it. The torque converter is supposed to lock up, and since you feel an extra shift it is locking up. Don't change parts, change the fluid.

ok im gonna get the fluid changed. Do you recommend just changing the fluid or getting it flushed out w/ the filter changed? best place to take it would be the dealer you think or just a shop that specializes in transmissions?

Take it to any shop that has a fluid exchange machine. Do not get a power flush with chemicals.
