Drip

I found a puddle of oil/fluid on my driveway this morning and noticed that my transmission pan and the whole area is covered with oil/fluid. Does anybody know what the problem might be? She's got 150,000 miles and transmission rebuilt 50,000 miles ago.

was there fluid anywhere above the pan? remeber fluid can flow upwards so look at the highest wet point for the leak. check by the dip stick tube, linkage seal, cracked case, extension housing seal, for tranny fluid, but usually if the whole pan is wet the leak is in the near the front of the tranny cuz the wind will blow it around the rest of the pan.

He has a duplicate thread in Other Powertrain - it may be engine oil, possibly rear main seal. He says the fluid is dark brown or black.
