As far as the transmission service, I don't think that is something you can take on yourself. In most cases, a machine (can't think of the name right now) is needed to actually flush all the fluid out before the fluid change.

Some have said if the transmission has high mileage, and has never been flushed, then you might not want to do it as it can break seals and all.

If the fluid has never been changed, you should go get it done with a fluid exchange machine, not a "power flush".

My 2002 5.4 with 4R70W does not have a drain plug on the torque converter so if you try to change the trans fluid yourself, all you can do is take off the trans pan and drain about 5 qts and refill. You can replace the filter if you do this, and clean the pan and magnet. If you want all of the fluid drained, you will have to take it in somewhere. I just went through this not knowing it didn't have the TC drain plug. I'm going to just replace 5 qts at a time more often. Mine has about 75k miles on it. The older models have TC drain plugs and you can drain all of it.

Not a bad idea. Those you can do yourself fairly easily. Rear takes synthetic 75W140, with friction modifier if you have limited slip, front takes 75W90 or 80W90, and transfer takes ATF.
