hard shift.

Hi I am new to the forum and am wondering if anyone can help me with a question I have. Everytime I start the truck up after its been sitting for a couple hours and go to drive away the first shift is always very hard, almost a clunk. After that it runs smooth without a problem. Is this something i should be worried about or is it normal?

The truck is a 04 fx4.

Thanks in advance for any help.

That is strange however since it only happens cold I wouldn't be too concerned. Maybe the Electronic Pressure Control Solenoid is sticky when cold. Default is max pressure. THey aren't too hard to change and I recommend it every 60,000 miles. At your next service try replacing it.

I'm no gearhead by any means but the dealership told me it was normal for the vehicle to jump a little on cold startups, I've noticed it on my last 3 fords.

How many miles, and have you ever changed the fluid?
