Question Transmission Swap Interchangeability

Bought a lemon with a bad transmission. 2005 F150 4x4 transmission reads RF-6C2P-7006-AA = 4R75W. As luck would have it a buddy recently jumped timing on his F150 4x2 transmission reads RF-3L3P-7006-AA = 4R75E OR W (got different results). Everything says they are the same transmission with the exception of the sensor on the newer model. Can the rear ends of the transmissions be swapped to accept the transfer case? I would really like to know this before buying this truck for parts.

Tailshaft housing is an easy swap, but the transmission needs to be completely disassembled to swap the output shaft.
