when i go to slow down the truck it trys to stay in gear and stall...
when i speed up slowly it will lug the motor and shift too soon plus it is shifting harder then normal...
if i get on the gas it shifts fine...
and.
i found metal in the pan... like lines of metal all twisted up...
is there a chance its the valve body ? .....
tranny dont sound like its making noise and its only got like 35k on a rebuild...
could the metal be from the t-converter ?
well thanks for any info

Unfortunately there is no chance that it is the valve body. It might be the converter, but with metal like that in the pan, it doesn't matter. The transmission and converter both need to be either rebuilt or replaced and the coolers on the truck replaced. You can't flush that stuff out and if you try and re-use the coolers you will end up in the same boat shortly down the road again and have to do it all over.
You don't know how many times I read and hear about these guys going to local shops or getting 'sweet internet deals' who spend easily twice what it should cost before they make the wise choice to get a quality built transmission that will last them.
Truly sorry to hear about it. I highly suggest calling Troyer Performance at 540-965-7126. They offer products that will get you up and running again and keep you there so you don't have to be spending this much money on a regular basis.
This is one area where you definitely need to spend the right amount of money once instead of going after bargains repeatedly.
Best wishes on it, and again I am very sorry to hear what you found.

Tuning is something that Mike himself has to do, and with the quantity of customers and the quality of work he damands, that is going to result in a wait. This is true with the best of the best in every vehicle though. Try and get a tune from any of the true high end shops for a Mustang and you are in the same boat. I know a lot of these professional tuners and I hear about tthese complaints all the time. When there is exactly one person taking care of the customers and has such high standards as these guys do... Well, good things come to those who are willing to wait.
When it comes to truck tuning in particular, I went straight to the horse's mouth asking for help with an economy tune for my own truck. I bypassed everyone and went straight to the guy that wrote most of the files for SCT and was one of the founders of the company. Guess what, he sent me to Mike Troyer. Because, and I quote, "Nobody knows these trucks better than Mike".
But, on the transmission end of things I guarantee you that Mike isn't building them himself. The wait time is exactly what it is everywhere else for the same level of product. If you are after a basic stock rebuild they should be able to kick one out the door in a couple of weeks at most even during the busiest of times. Need a custom built transmission for a powerful or different combination and it might take about twice that. But again you are not going to find better products for your money anywhere. Mike will only sell the best.
And if I were in a position to afford a new truck I woudl go that route too by the way
Have a good one.

like they did not get ahold of me unless i got ahold of them...
no way in hell should a tune take o most a year to get done...
for real like a year is along time to wait for something....
i coulda died and never got to use the tune ... no one should have to wait a year...
but the trucks done... i just got the rearend rebuild for the 4th time and
this 4th time rebuilding it i swaped in a 9.75 and regeared that instead of the 8.8 i did have and it broke last night...
drive shaft was in the road and oil all over the place...
i dont know what ima do but this whole tranny thing is over with lol

You know, I just *love* it when someone deliberately decides to paint a completely incorrect picture as has happened here.
As you well know, Shane Burcaw, you FAILED TO SEND proper data - NOT ONCE have you ever provided proper data as per the instructions we provided you and went over with you numerous times on the phone as well, in great detail.
You went to the dyno in February of 2007, but failed to get proper data, as you know - there is no way to tell if the transplanted engine was running at 15:1 or at 13:1 A/F - but you failed to have them simply hand you a tabular printout of the data so that we could see that along with the matching OBD-II data. That useless data was immediately reviewed, and you were told by Chris at our shop that we could not use it - that your data was incomplete. That is precisely why we write those detailed, easy to follow, step-by-step instructions, written for the person who doesn't even know what the word datalogging *means*, so they will know what to do - I personally spent hour after hour with you on the phone going over all of that with you - In fact, you told Chris, and I quote: "I ain't going back the dyno, I'm not gonna spend any more money". We have *VERBATIM* records of what you said, Shane, as well as records of everything else that transpired. And had you simply followed instructions and done things correctly in the first place, you would have had your tunes dialed in for that major mechanical configuration change very quickly - but because YOU failed to follow instructions you were given not only in writing, but also gone over in detail over the phone time after time, we could not make any changes to your tunes - and that is YOUR fault, not ours.
And you have the nerve to claim that we wouldn't call you, that you had to call us??? No, the truth is, we returned every phone call you ever made, and then some - I personally spent HOURS with you on the phone, all to no avail.
Then SEVEN MONTHS LATER - you finally decide to go back to the dyno, but even then you once again FAILED to get the REST of the info required! So not once, but TWICE you failed to get proper data despite all the many hours of help you got from us.
The truth also is, and I really love how you have conveniently left this out, that even despite not having proper data, after you went back to the dyno the second time, SEVEN MONTHS LATER, I pieced together data from the different sessions done 7 months apart, as well as spending hours pouring over data from other similar vehicles where we had tuned them for a 4.6 non-PI to a 5.4 conversion like that, and promptly made adjustments to your tunes anyway!!! And the result was, the vehicle ran fine - and the thanks I get for that is to see you come here and tell an absolutely false story.
Frankly, if you had any integrity you'd thank me for being able to do what I did for you despite the poor attempts you made at providing data, especially considering that this was no ordinary tune, this was to CONVERT a 4.6 non-PI F-150 into a 5.4 F-150, which is, for it to be done *right*, quite a bit of work - and that, NO TUNER can do blind and have the A/F ratios correct out of the box with no data whatsoever - not even me, and I have done more of them than anyone else.
So the actual TRUTH is, it did NOT take any 8 months for us to provide you with tuning as you have tried to claim here, the truth is it was YOU who failed to do things right and caused the delay.
Sorry Shane, I really hate to have to come off like this to anyone, especially here on F-150 Online, the site that is closest to my heart, the site that we helped keep alive for years with our financial support so that people like you would have a place to come and get accurate info on the vehicles we all love - but you have left me with no choice but to expose you.
If you have anything further to say about this (aside from admitting the truth and apologizing), I suggest you pick up the phone and call *me* - and keep these boards free of the nonsense you have posted in this thread.
Last - There is a reason you are breaking so many parts - not one, not two, but THREE rear ends and now a transmission too, - and that reason is staring right back at you in the mirror.
I wish you well, and better luck in the future.
