Mine does the same thing but it sounds like just not as bad. I gently start off on a roll from a light and then go and it doesnt do it. I heard that it was because our trucks were assembled without grease packed somewhere I forget but something to do with the drive shaft and ford wont recall it, you can to pay........

It's the slip joint in the driveshaft. Recalls are only for emissions or safety. This is neither of those, so there won't be a recall. Plus Ford doesn't recognize it as a problem, they consider it normal maintenance.

If its a rize kit, the driveshaft is too short. It slips in and out of place which is how its designed, but thats the thud you are hearing

ya i have the rize kit and i figured it was the driveshaft because it has fallen out before due to the fact that a miata cut me off and i had to slam and i mean slam on my breaks when he realized what he did he bolted off and i tried to chase him but no drive shaft means no go lmao....but what would i need to do to repair this issue

Dirt_bound- Get a new a driveshaft or get yours lengthened. Thumper did this and should be able to help you.

Fireman- a slip yoke is supposed to function this way to account for rear suspension articulation. It comes in and out by design. When you lift the rear of the truck, you pull the driveshaft farther out of the transmission output shaft. If you dont have suspension mods, then its routine.
